Magnetic Island Jet Ski Hire & Ferry

The following combinations of passengers for 30 minutes is permitted:

Single rider. 2 adults (can ride together or swap the ski over at half time). 1 adult + 1 child. 1 adult + 2 children (depending on size small children may ride at the same time or we may advise you do a 15 minute swap out).

Your jet ski hire adventure starts with a land briefing, this is where you fill out your details, sign a contract and learn all about the area and the commercial laws the skis are governed by. From here it's time to get ready to head down to the water and gear up in life jacket.

Once in the water you will go through the basics of riding, the gears and then you're climbing aboard. After a quick demo you're heading out into a 2km square hire area (see below for a map of area and restrictions).

All jet skis are commercially registered and there are laws you need to follow while hiring, these include laws relating to speed limits. All commercial skis in Australia are governed to 30 knots, which is plenty, quick enough and the perfect speed to hook turn and check out the bay. One law that affects hirers is the 200 metre distance you need to stay away from everything, this includes other jetskis, at no stage can you get close. Safety is the biggest priority and Magnetic Island jet ski hire have no tolerance on this law.

Photos - Once you board your jetski a few photos will be taken and uploaded daily to Magnetic Island Jet Ski Hire Facebook albums, you will receive an email after your hire with the direct links to access them.

WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS:

*Single riding - Please note the 160kg weight restriction is for doubles, with single riders we need to take into account your ability to pull yourself up onto a ski if you were to fall in, the increased possibility of roll overs and equipment damage, as well as the weather conditions for the day you want to hire. If you weigh more than 120kg please pop into the office to book in.

*Sharing a ski - Please note our skis have a weight restriction, this is to protect you and the equipment. The maximum combined weight we will allow is 160kg however it is also subject to our approval, on days where we have a swell in the hire area we may only allow single riders and may advise against taking small children. This is always decided with your best interests at heart, we will not send you out if we believe the experience will be unenjoyable.

AGE- minimum age to be a passenger on a jetski with an adult (18+) is 6 years old.

What to bring Drivers licence, 18+ card, or Passport and a Credit Card, no deposit is withheld and the card will only be charged in the event of an incident. Bring whatever you’re comfortable to get wet in, it is recommend board shorts and a rashie for sun protection. Sunglasses and hats (own risk, will give you some advice on keeping them safe). Come ready to go with sunscreen applied. Bring a towel for after your hire.

16 and 17 year olds can ride on their own but NOT with another under age passenger, a guardian is required to be present at the time of hiring to complete the rental agreement (including ID and Visa/Mastercard).

ENGLISH- A thorough understanding and use of English is required. Legally you need to understand briefing and what contract contains. If the operator can not have a conversation with you in English, you will not be allowed to ride.

SWIMMING- You need to be able to swim and you need to be a competent and confident swimmer. By booking you are confirming you are and if you are not, you will not be refunded.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS- Please read our terms and conditions before booking, you must confirm that you have no pre existing medical conditions that would affect your hire (bad back, bad eyes, etc), you also confirm that you are not pregnant and will not be intoxicated (must have a 0 alcohol reading) at the time of riding.
